Rickshaw

A loan helped to repair her husband's auto rickshaw so he can drive smoothly to generate income for his children.

Ruqia's story

Ruqia is the age of 47, living along with her spouse and children in Multan, Pakistan. In the given picture you can see Ruqia only because her husband was looking for some other temporary work on daily wages.

She is a responsible mother of nine children. Her husband is an auto rickshaw driver by profession. He has been running an auto rickshaw for the last 20 years.

Since a few days ago, his rickshaw is not working properly due to continuous usage. He observed that most of its important parts have depreciated, and he is unable to generate income, even a single penny.

Ruqia's husband wants to fix his auto rickshaw. However, due to lack of money, he finds it difficult to cover the cost of maintenance.

Therefore, Ruqia has requested a loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Pakistan to help her husband so he can cover the cost of repairing the auto rickshaw. This will help him to continue his transport services.

Ruqia is very much thankful to Kiva, its lenders and BRAC Pakistan.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Pakistan.
