This loan helped to purchase improved seed, fertilizer, and solar products to extend on credit to approximately 20,000 smallholder farmers in Rwanda.
One Acre Fund's story
One Acre Fund is dedicated to helping smallholder farmers in Rwanda grow their way out of hunger and poverty. In Rwanda, where many families survive on less than $1 per person per day, women make up the majority of the farming workforce, playing a critical role in food security and community resilience. Enrollment begins in May, giving farmers the opportunity to choose the inputs they need to cultivate successful harvests. By providing high-quality agricultural supplies alongside expert training, One Acre Fund empowers farmers to increase their yields and boost their incomes. On average, farmers supported by One Acre Fund see their farm profits grow by 35–40%, allowing them to better provide for their families, invest in education, and strengthen their communities.
