A loan helped to buy organic fertilizers.

Nicholas's story

Nicholas is 25 years old and married with three children and one dependent who they look after due to her old age. Nicholas is an agriculturalist who specializes in coffee growing and owns about two acres of coffee plantations in his region. He also operates a retail shop where he generates additional income. He makes local brew (waragi) as another source of income.

From the income realized from coffee and local gin sales, he has managed to look after his family and mostly provide the basic necessities. However Nicholas’ biggest challenge is inadequate income to pay tuition for his children plus the seasonal changes that affect his earnings as most of his coffee was hit by sunshine and dried up.

He is applying for a loan of 1,000,000 UGX to buy fertilizers for his coffee plantation. He hopes this will increase the productivity of the coffee and bananas in the near future, increasing his income.
