Lauretta's story
Meet 42-year-old Lauretta from Tombo branch. She is married with four children between the ages of 3 and 25. Four of them are currently attending school.
Lauretta runs a retail table business and sells palm oil, pepper, oil, groundnuts, Maggi, tomatoes, garden eggs, salt, onions, etc. to her customers around the community.
She has been in this business for the past 10 years now and works 12 hours per day, 6 days a week. Her other source of income is from her husband.
Her main challenges are a storage facility and transportation problems.
Lauretta requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more palm oil, pepper, oil, groundnuts, Maggi, tomatoes, garden eggs, salt, onions, etc. to increase her business.
She says that the extra income from this loan will help to take care of her family.
In the next five years, she wants to expand to a big shop. She sends thanks and appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.
This loan is special because:
It provides women with access to funding in areas where there are limited alternative source of finance.
