Traditional fabric from Myanmar brought to you by traveler Aaron John.

"Yangon, Myanmar: The Longyi is a traditional piece of clothing worn by men and women for everyday life in Myanmar. Even in the modern day capital of Yangon, you will see most people wearing a Longyi, whether it is in the office or doing normal daily activities. Its very much a part of the national identity. This fabric (red-green-black) is a traditional Longyi style from the western-most state of Myanmar, named Chin. The Chin people dress mostly in green-red-black stripes. In the market, I met a Chin seamstress and we talked for hours, definitely one of the highlights of my trip. The fabric is sold in pieces cut for a sarong, so we had to buy many pieces, not just by the roll. It was fun hunting around the market for fabrics that were all the same design." —Aaron John
